Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — Led by senior Eli Hicks, all four Athens golfers shot 40 or better in wins over Cowanesque Valley and Canton here Monday afternoon in NTL boys golf action at The Club at Shepard Hills.
Hicks fired a 2-under par on the par-37 front nine, with birdies on the par-5 fifth and eighth holes, to lead the Wildcats to a four-player aggregate score of 151, while Canton shot a 177 and Cowanesque Valley carded a 200.
Junior Ty Owen shot an even-par 37, with birdies on the par-5 fifth, the par-4 sixth, and par-5 eighth holes, and sophomore Jacob Saxon shot a 39, with birdies on the par-5 fifth and ninth holes.
Senior Lucas Grenninger added a 40 for the Wildcats, while seniors Collin Congdon and Duncan Thetga, who birdied the par-3 seventh hole, added non-scoring rounds of 42 and 45.
Levi Vermilya led Canton with a 41, and Danny Smith led CV with a 45.
Athens returns to action Thursday when it hosts Sayre, Towanda and Wyalusing at Shepard Hills.
