Valley Sports ReportEAST SMITHFIELD — The Athens boys split a pair of decision, while the Lady Wildcats dropped both here Tuesday afternoon in an NTL cross-country meet at the SRU school course.
BOYS
Athens 25, Cowanesque Valley 30
Wyalusing 25, Athens 34
Jacob Shores and Matt Rossettie finished 2-3 to help the Wildcats to a 1-1 record on Senior Night.
Shores clocked in at 19:01, while Rossettie crossed the finish line in 19:03.
Corbin Brown finished sixth in 20:06, while Micah Simwale was 19th in 23:37, Gabriel Schmieg was 20th in 24:45, Austin Nason was 23rd in 27:50, and Kamden Knapp was 25th in 31:13.
GIRLS
Cowanesque Valley 17, Athens 38
Wyalusing 25, Athens 34
Paisley Smith led Athens with an eighth-place finish, clocking in at 26:19.28, while Adeline Burnett was 12th in 27:43, and Tatyana Nasser (28:34), Katyini Kinthala (29:59), and Hailey Horton (32:46) finished 13th through 15th, respectively.
JUNIOR HIGH
Boys
Rowan Morales led an Athens sweep of the top four spots in the junior high boys race in a time of 9:26, while teammates Tyler Horton was second in 10:30, Sawyer Nason was third in 11:01, and Isaac Janiszewski was fourth in 11:14.
Girls
Evelyn Owen led Athens in the junior high girls race, finishing fourth in 10:55, while Lydia Swingle was fifth in 11:47.
Emma Madison finished ninth in 12:17, while Penelope Metcalf was 11th in 12:28, Celia Burnett was 12th in 12:43, Cecilia Shangraw was 16th in 13:36, and Scarlet Eccker was 18th in 14:48.
