Valley Sports ReportWYALUSING — Wyalusing scored in the final 10 minutes to salvage a 1-1 tie with Athens here Wednesday afternoon in NTL girls soccer action.
"Overall, I'm happy with how we worked in a tough place to play," said Athens coach Rich Pitts.
"We got a great goal by the freshman, and had plenty of other opportunities we just didn’t bury any of them," added Pitts.
Following a scoreless first half, freshman Everleigh Waring scored about eight minutes after the intermission to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.
With 8:25 remaining in the contest, Lia Fischer put Wyalusing on the board to tie the game at 1-1.
Athens had a 16-9 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 2-0 edge in corner kicks.
Sophomore Anika Lezak recorded eight saves in net for the Wildcats.
Athens, now 3-1-1, returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Delaware Valley.
