NTL VOLLEYBALL: SAYRE HOLDS ON FOR FIVE-SET WIN OVER TROY (2026-09-22)

TROY — Sayre regrouped after letting a 2-0 lead slip through their fingers, and won a decisive fifth set to top Troy, 3-2, here Tuesday night in NTL volleyball action.

The Redskins won the first two sets 25-19 and 25-20, but the Trojans pulled out a 25-23 decision in the third set, then evened the match with a 25-14 win in the fourth set.

Sayre was dominant in the decisive fifth set, posting a 15-6 win.

Junior Reghan McGaughey led the Redskins with 22 kills, 11 digs, and four assists, while senior Alex Schack had 13 kills, 15 digs and three aces, and junior Yhale Dune recorded 39 setter assists and four digs.

Junior Grace Russo had 18 digs and two aces in the win, while senior Azalea McClenny registered seven kills, junior Emily Strickland and freshman Mylee Medina added five and four digs, respectively, and freshman Ember Jones chipped in with three kills.

Sayre, now 4-4, hosts Wellsboro Thursday.
