Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — It's another busy week for high school sports in the Valley as the calendar turns to October.
There are 38 events on this week's docket, including 11 on Tuesday, and nine on Thursday.
The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:
MONDAY (4)
• The Athens boys host Horseheads in a non-league soccer match.
TUESDAY (11)
• Athens hosts Troy in a key NTL girls soccer match-up.
• Sayre volleyball hosts North Penn-Liberty.
• The Tioga boys host Newark Valley on the soccer pitch at Haggerty Field.
• Waverly hosts Johnson City in a STAC girls swim meet.
• The Waverly girls on the road for a divisional soccer game at Owego.
WEDNESDAY (4)
• The District 4 Golf Team Championships and Individual Qualifier is at White Deer Golf Course.
• Tioga hosts Division III foe Moravia in Section IV field hockey action.
• Waverly hosts Owego in a STAC Central Division boys soccer match-up.
THURSDAY (6)
• Waverly travels to Norwich in the Section IV, Division IV football opener.
• Tioga hosts Watkins Glen on the volleyball hardwoods.
• The Waverly girls host Chenango Valley under the lights on the soccer pitch at Memorial Stadium.
FRIDAY (9)
• Athens hosts NTL Large School rival on the gridiron at Alumni Stadium.
• Tioga football on the road at Newark Valley.
• Sayre football is on the road at Canton.
• Waverly volleyball hosts Windsor.
• Tioga field hockey hosts Tioga County rival Owego.
• Waverly hosts Windsor in boys golf action at Shepard Hills.
• Waverly girls tennis hosts Seton Catholic.
SATURDAY (4)
• Athens hosts North-Penn Liberty in an NTL girls soccer tilt.
• Waverly volleyball hosts Wyalusing.
• Athens and Waverly are in action at the McQuaid Cross-Country Invitational
