Valley Sports ReportROME, Pa. — Junior Alissa Vough had the best finish of the day for the Wildcats as both the girls and boys teams were 0-2 in NTL cross-country double-dual action against NEB and Sullivan County.
GIRLS
NEB 22, Athens 33
Sullivan County 20, Athens 39
Vough finished second overall in a time of 21:15.08, and sophomore Stella Unger was 11th in 25:05.42.
Freshman Paisley Smith (26:23.85) and sophomore Adaline Burnett (26:39.02) finished 13th and 14th, respectively, while sophomore Katyayini Kinthala was 17th in 28:35.21, and senior Haylie Horton was 20th in 30:31.37.
BOYS
NEB 16, Athens 47
Sullivan County 16, Athens 46
Junior Matt Rossettie was the Wildcats' top finisher, placing ninth in a time of 18:42.05.
Senior Corbin Smith finished 14th in a time of 19:40.58, while freshman Gabriel Sensenig (23:36.01), freshman Austin Nason (23:53.87), sophomore Micah Simwale (26:42.24), senior Kamden Knapp (27:17.02), and Nicholas Lesser (27:18.02) finished 18th through 23rd, respectively.
JUNIOR HIGH
Boys
NEB 20, Athens 55,
Sullivan 25, Athens 40
Rowan Morales finished second for the junior Wildcats in a time of 10:48.4, and Sawyer Nason was sixth in a time of 12:01.02.
Isaac Janiszewski was 17th in 13:27.26.
Girls
Athens 26, NEB 37
Athens 15, Sullivan 50
Evelyn Owen finished second for the Lady Wildcats in a time of 12:58.92, while Lydia Swingle was fourth in 13:24.28, and Penelope Metcalf was fifth in 14:05.03.
Celia Bennett (14:31.35), Emma Madison (14:43.33), Cecelia Shangraw (15:41.73), and Lillia Rossettie (16:13.28) finished seventh through 10th, respectively, for Athens, and Scarlett Eccker was 12th in 17:00.64.
Athens returns to action Saturday at the McQuaid Invitational in Rochester.
