SAYRE — Seven different Redskins found the back of the net in an 8-2 rout of Towanda here Monday night in NTL boys soccer action at the Lockhart Street Bowl.

The Redskins, who moved into a four-way tie for first place with Wellsboro's loss to Williamson Monday, were led by two goals from Nate Williams and four assists from Austin Rowe.

After nearly 30 minutes of scoreless soccer, senior Williams penetrated deep into the Towanda end and made a "spectacular cross" in front of the goal to the foot of freshman Sam Wheeler, who knocked it past Towanda keeper Devin Patel for his first career goal. ...more

Week 3 of the high school football season is upon us and three of the Valley teams face defending District / Section champions and all three face very daunting tasks this weekend.

Week 2 proved to be a solid picking week with a 3-1 mark and two of the games within five points. Of course, when I'm wrong, I'm wrong. My pick of Athens topping Hughesville, 20-15, was well off as the Spartans rolled over the Wildcats, 42-7.

WEEK 2: 3-1. OVERALL 5-1.

In an odd bit of coincidence, Athens and Sayre are both playing defending District 4 champions and Tioga is playing a Section IV champion that went on to win a state title. ...more

The Tioga girls soccer team snapped a 22-game losing streak dating back to Oct. 2, 2012 with a 3-2 win over S-VE.

ATHENS — Ryan Segar scored with 2:21 left in the game to lift Athens to a 1-0 win over previously-unbeaten Williamson here Wednesday evening in NTL boys soccer action.
