SAYRE — It will be Thursday before Sayre returns to action against Western Catholic of Philadelphia in the "Sweet 16" of the PIAA Class AA girls basketball playoffs.

SAYRE — Sayre will have to wait another day (or two) to continue on its historic trek in the PIAA Class AA girls basketball state playoffs.

With Winter Storm Stella expected to dump more than one foot of snow (up to two feet in the Valley) on much of the Northeast, Sayre's second round playoff game against West Catholic of Philadelphia at Hazelton High School has been postponed.

(UPDATE) — PIAA has postponed all Tuesday and Wednesday games. Sayre's game will likely by played Thursday, but the site and time could change. ...more

While there will likely be debate about where this Sayre girls basketball teams falls in terms of talent in comparison to its predecessors, there is one thing no one can debate: this Lady Redskins team accomplished several things no other team could.
