TIOGA CENTER — Tioga landed six players, including five juniors, on the IAC South Small School first-team all-star team in recent voting by the league’s coaches.
Senior Sarah Hollenbeck was the lone Lady Tigers senior selected, and juniors Mariah Culver, Marissa Howe, Sara Strong, Maddy Dydynski, and Kurstan Martin were also honored.
Sarah Hollenbeck, senior, 1B, Tioga: Hollenbeck was second on the team with a .484 batting average and 16 RBI. She had a team-high 31 hits, including seven extra-base hits (five doubles and two home runs). She also scored 16 runs and stole five bases.
Hollenbeck had a .522 on-base percentage, and a .656 slugging percentage for an OPS of 1.178.
Mariah Culver, P, junior, Tioga: Culver led the Lady Tigers with 63 innings pitched, and posted a 3.56 ERA. She struck out 111 and walked just 29, while allowing only 65 hits.
Culver led the team with a .500 batting average (27 hits in 54 ABs) and had 10 extra-base hits (six doubles, two triples, and two home runs). She also had 14 RBI, 10 runs scored, and four stolen bases.
She had a .542 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of .796 for a team-high OPS of 1.339.
Marissa Howe, junior, C, Tioga: Howe hit .439 on the season, and was second on the team with 29 hits, including a team-high 20 extra-base hits (team-high 15 doubles, three triples, and two home runs.) She also had a team-high 24 RBI, 19 runs scored, and six stolen bases.
She had a .443 on-base percentage, and a team-high .848 slugging percentage for an OPS of 1.291.
Sara Strong, junior, Utility, Tioga: Strong hit .444 (24 hits in 54 ABs) with 11 extra-base hits (six doubles, a team-high four triples, and one home run.) She scored 15 runs, had 11 RBI, and stole five bases.
She had a .475 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of .759 and an OPS of 1.234.
Maddy Dydynski, junior, 2B / P, Tioga: Dydynski hit .298 (17 hits in 57 ABs) with eight extra-base hits (four doubles, three triples, and one home run). She also had 13 RBI and 14 runs scored.
Dydynski posted a 2.48 ERA in 45 innings, striking out 73 and walking 16, while allowing 44 hits.
Kurstan Martin, junior, SS, Tioga: Martin hit .328 (19 hits in 58 ABs), including eight extra-base hits (five doubles and three triples). She also scored a team-high 19 runs and stole three bases.
Other named to the first team were O-M freshman Grace Bondracek, seniors Breanna Bentley and Alyssa Crout, and junior Heidi Casselbury, Candor freshman Jennah Kareem, and sophomore Searra Allen.
Those receiving honorable mention recognition were Newfield senior Toni Myers, and junior Arabian Denmark, Candor seniors Vanessa Doane, and Arianna Anderson, and O-M senior Dasia Herman, sophomore Isabel Foote, freshmen Lydia Lynch, and Megan Jenkins.
