ATHENS — Athens dropped three straight decisions, including a doubleheader against Wellsboro, in recent Juniors Division softball action.

Wellsboro 15, Athens 7
Caydence Macik smacked a two-run double and later scored in the first inning to give Athens a 3-2 lead, but Wellsboro answered with 10 runs in the next two innings en route to a 15-7 win in the first game of a doubleheader May 3.

Macik had three hits, including a double, and scored three runs to lead Athens at the plate, while Savanna Harbst doubled, Mallory Mummert scored a pair of runs, and Sara Ciavardini and Allysa Murrelle each scored one run.

Wellsboro 13, Athens 9
Wellsboro jumped out to a 9-2 lead after 2 1/2 innings, then held on for a 13-9 win over Athens in the nightcap of their twinbill.

Macik slugged a two-run home run in the first inning to cut Athens’ deficit to 3-2, but Wellsboro scored six runs in its next two at-bats to take a 9-2 lead.

Macik homered and tripled, and scored two runs to lead Athens at the plate, while Megan Collins singled. Ciavardini scored three runs, Mummert scored two runs, and Murrelle crossed the plate once.

Wyalusing 18, Athens 7
On Thursday, Wyalusing scored 10 runs in the fourth inning to break open a close game en route to a 18-7 win over Athens.

Wyalusing built an 8-4 lead through three innings, then blew the game open in the top of the fourth.

Macik had three hits, including a double, to lead Athens at the plate, while Audrey Hatch doubled and scored three runs, Mummert doubled and scored a run, Collins and Murielle each singled and scored a run, and Harbst added a single.
