ELMIRA — Waverly’s Alex Tomasso edged her high school teammate Capria Picco to win the 18U division, and her younger sister Sidney Tomasso won the 14U Division here Tuesday afternoon at the Soaring Eagles Golf Course stop on the Central N.Y. Junior PGA Tour.

Alex Tomasso shot a 4-over par round of 75 to top Picco, who had a 77, by two strokes on the 4,205-yard, par-71 course. Trumansburg’s Elizabeth Dawson was third with an 85.

Alex Tomasso birdied the 249-yard, par-4 5th hole to take a one-stroke lead, but Picco carded pars on the final four holes of the front nine to shoot a 39 and led Alex Tomasso by one stroke.

Alex Tomasso pulled even with a birdie on the 324-yard, par-4 10th hole, but Picco sandwiched a pair of birdies — on the 204-yard, par-4 11th hole, and the 365-yard, par-5 13th hole — around a bogey to take a one-stroke lead after 13 holes.

With the match tied after 17 holes, Alex Tomasso birdied the 281-yard, par-4 18th hole, while Picco carded a bogey on the finishing hole.

Sidney Tomasso trailed Binghamton’s Emily Gresham by three strokes at the turn, but shot a 1-over par 37 on the back nine for a 79 and a one-shot victory. Horseheads’ Lucia Chen was third with an 82.

Sidney Tomasso birdied the 301-yard, par 5 2nd hole, but a trio of double bogeys on the front nine led to a 42.

After a birdie on the 324-yard, par-5 10th hole, and a string of bogeys by Gresham, Sidney Tomasso led by two strokes.

Gresham pulled even with a birdie on the 15th hole, and the leaders went to the 17th tee tied for the lead.

Sidney Tomasso finished with a pair of pars to secure the victory after Gresham scored a bogey on the 17th.
