WAVERLY — Waverly topped Canton in “B” and “C” Division action here Saturday in NTL Youth Football action at Memorial Stadium.
Canton 33, Waverly 20
Michaekl Davis scored three scores to lead Canton to a 33-20 win over Waverly in “A” Division action.
Davis scored on runs of 61 and 2 yards in the first quarter to give the junior Warriors a 13-0 lead.
Charlie Larrabee scored on a 34 yard TD early in the second quarter to put Waverly on the board.
Davis added a 12-yard TD to give Canton a 19-6 lead.
Jay Pipher broke loose on a 48-yard TD for Waverly, but Canton’s Hudson Ward countered with a 51-yard TD to give Canton a 26-13 lead.
Jacob VanHouten scored on a 49 yard TD and Larrabee added the extra point to trim th deficit to 26-20 midway through the fourth quarter.
Holden Ward sealed the win for Canton with a late 29-yard TD run. Davis added the extra point to provide the final margin.
Waverly was led on defense by Joey Tomasso , Larrabee , Pipher and Carter George.
Waverly 13, Canton 6
Bryce LaForest scored on a pair of long TD runs to lift Waverly to a 13-6 win over Canton in “B” Division action.
LaForest opened the scoring with a 72-yard TD run. Andrew Larrabee added the extra point to give Waverly a 7-0 lead.
Canton’s Reed Palmer scored on an 11-yard TD run to trim the deficit to 7-6.
LaForest broke loose again early in the fourth quarter on a 69-yard scoring jaunt to provide the final margin.
The Waverly defense was led by Brance Vanalstine, Ben Shaw, Carter Davies, Nate McEwen, and Rhylee Stotler, who had an interception.
Waverly 26, Canton 20
Griffin Walter scored on three long TD runs to lead Waverly to a 26-20 win over Canton in “C” Division acton.
On the first play after Canton took a 6-0 lead, Walter busted loose on a 65-yard TD run to tie the game. Avery Bowman tacked on the extra point to give the junior Wolverines a 7-6 lead.
Walter also scored on a 55-yard run to give Waverly a 13-6 lead.
After Canton trimmed the deficit to 13-12, Bowman raced 55 yards for a TD, and Walter added the extra point to push the Waverly lead back to 20-12.
Walter broke free on a 65-yard TD in the fourth quarter to extend Waverly’s lead to 26-13.
Canton scored a late TD to provide the final margin.
The Waverly defense was led by Brody Lambert, Connor Bentley, Brycen Fiske, and Zachary Wiles.
