SAYRE  Athens remained unbeaten with a big win over Towanda, while Sayre topped Canton in action here Sunday in the Epiphany Junior High Travel Basketball League.

In other action, Mansfield topped Big Flats, 47-29.

Sayre 50, Canton 42

Lucas Horton scored 13 points in the first half, and Brayden Horton had 11 points in the second half to lead Sayre to 50-42 win over Canton in a battle for second place.

Lucas Horton, Jackson Hubbard and Zack Garrity each knocked down 3-pointers in the first half, and David Northrup added five points as Sayre took a 26-21 lead at the intermission.

Brayden Horton canned a pair of 3-pointers in the second half, and Lucas Horton and Donovan Wynn added four points apiece as the Redskins secured the win.

Lucas Horton led Sayre with 17 points, while Brayden Horton scored 11 points, Northrup added five points, and Hubbard, and Wynn chipped in with four points apiece.

Caden Williams led Canton with 14 points, and Ethan VanNoy and Cooper Kitchen added nine points apiece.

Athens 55, Towanda 29
Athens raced out to a 22-point halftime lead en route to a 55-29 rout of Towanda.

Troy Pritchard and J.J. Babcock, who had a pair of 3-pointers, scored eight points apiece in the first half, while Shayne Reid added six points, and Mason Lister chipped in with four points to help Athens to a 33-11 halftime advantage.

Lister tossed in eight points, and Pritchard added six points after the intermission.

Pritchard led four scorers in double-figures with 14 points, while Lister scored 12 points, and Babcock and Reid each had 10 points. Tucker Brown and Lucas Kraft chipped in with four points apiece.

STANDINGS: 1. Athens 8-0; 2. Sayre 5-2; 3. Canton 4-3;  4. Mansfield 3-3; 5. Towanda 1-6; 6. Big Flats 0-7.
