ELMIRA — Waverly clinched its 15th consecutive Large School Division title here Thursday afternoon with a sweep of Notre Dame in IAC girls bowling action at Rossi Lanes.
Waverly improves to 50-2 on the season, and leads second-place Watkins Glen (33-19), which was swept by Union Springs, by 17 games with just three matches (12 games) remaining.
The Lady Wolverines won the first game 752-657, then closed it out with wins of 704-648, and 819-599 for a total-pinfall victory of 2,275 to 1,904.
Senior Cassy Bowman shot a 526 to pace Waverly, while sophomore Mackenzie Plouse rolled a 495, and senior Chenelle Huddleston had a 458.
Seventh-grader Victoria Houseknecht had a 447, including a 221 in the third game, while junior Sarah Uhl added a 345, and junior Kari VanAllen tacked on a 299.
Abigail Connolly led Notre Dame with a 429 series, and Sayre’s Kiran Sharma added a 353.
Waverly returns to action Jan. 29 at Union Springs.
