ATHENS — Athens rebounded from a loss to Towanda, with wins over Troy and Wyalusing in recent NTL junior high girls basketball action.
The Athens “B” team went 0-3 on the week, including an overtime loss to Troy.
Towanda 31, Athens 24
At Athens, Troy rallied in the second quarter, and pulled out a 31-24 win at the Rowe gymnasium Saturday.
Kennedy Westbrook scored five points in the first quarter to help Athens to a 7-4 lead, but Troy rallied to take a 13-11 lead at the half, and outscored Athens 18-13 lead in the second half.
Westbrook led Athens with 10 points, while Olivia Bartlow added eight points, and Hannah Walker chipped in with four points.
Towanda 35, Athens 14
Abby Chapman led Athens with six points, and Audrey Clare added four points in a 35-14 loss to Towanda in the “B” game.
Athens 32, Troy 21
At Athens, Athens raced out to an 11-point first-quarter lead and cruised to a 32-21 win over Troy Tuesday.
Kennedy Westbrook scored seven points in the first quarter, and Taylor Walker, and Caydence Macik added four points apiece to fuel a 15-4 blitz.
Macik led Athens with 12 points, while Westbrook added 10 points, and Taylor Walker added four.
Troy 23, Athens 18, OT
Troy outscored Athens 7-2 in overtime to pull out a 23-18 win in the “B” game.
Emma Bronson, Megan Robinson, and Karlee Bartlow scored four points apiece to lead Athens.
Athens 45, Wyalusing 26
At Wyalusing, Athens jumped out to an early lead, and pulled away in the second half for a 45-26 win over Wyalusing Thursday.
Kennedy Westbrook scored eight points in the first quarter to help Athens to an 11-4 lead.
After stretching their lead to 19-11 at the half, Karlee Bartlow canned a 3-pointer and scored five points in the third quarter to fuel a 13-9 spurt to push the lead to 34-20 entering the final eight minutes.
Westbrook led Athens with 15 points, while Taylor Walker scored nine points, Karlee Bartlow had seven points, Caydence Macik added six points, and Hannah Walker, and Olivia Bartlow chipped in with four points.
Wyalusing 34, Athens 14
Audrey Clare led Athens with five points, and Karlee Bartlow added four points in a 34-14 loss to Wyalusing.
