WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: ATHENS GRAD WARNER POSTS TRIPLE-DOUBLE — EARNS CONFERENCE "PLAYER OF THE WEEK" HONORS (2018-02-14)

CORNING — Athens grad Mackenzie Warner, a sophomore on the Corning Community College women’s basketball team, was named the Mid-State Athletic Conference for the week of Feb. 5-11.

In a 74-50 loss to Tompkins-Cortland Community College on Thursday, Warner had 15 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, seven rebounds, seven assists, and two steals.

Two night later, the Lady Red Barons knocked off nationally-ranked Finger Lakes Community College, 62-48, thanks in large part to a “triple-double” by Warner.

The 5-foot, 4-inch guard scored 12 points, dished out 13 assists, pulled down 11 rebounds, and had one steal in the win.

On the season, Warner, who has started all 21 games this season, leads Corning with 6.5 assists, and 2.6 steals per game. Warner, who has 14 3-pointers on the season. is also averaging 8.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

Corning CC, 8-13 on the season, wraps up the regular season this week with a home game against Broome on Wednesday, and the season finale at Jefferson Community College Saturday.
