WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: ATHENS GRAD WARNER SETS CORNING CC RECORD FOR ASSISTS IN A GAME (2018-03-11)

CORNING, N.Y. — Athens grad Mackenzie Warner, a sophomore on the Corning women’s basketball team had quite a finish to her career with the Lady Barons.

In consecutive games, Warner had a triple-double, and set the school record for assists in a game.

Warner has 12 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists in a 62-48 win over Finger Lakes CC, then followed that up with a school-record 17 assists, to to go along with 10 points and five rebounds in a 70-26 win over Broome Community College.

In the final game of her career at Corning, Warner scored just two points, but dashed out 13 assists, and hauled down five rebounds.

For the season, Warner, who started all 23 of Corning’s games, led the team with 7.2 assists per game — with a 1.8 to 1 assist-to-turnover ratio, and also averaged 8.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game.
