THE VALLEY — There's a ton of diamond action in the Valley today with four baseball and three softball games on the docket.

The only teams on the road are the Waverly baseball and softball teams. They are playing at Notre Dame, and all four teams enter Friday's action unbeaten.

NEB (2-1 overall, 2-1 NTL) at Sayre (3-0, 2-0), 4:30 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a 16-3 win at Williamson Friday, while the Panthers edged Canton, 4-3.

Last year, Sayre won at NEB 10-0 on May 9. Nine days later, Sayre won at home, 14-2.

Wyalusing (0-4, 0-4) at Athens (1-2, 1-2), 4:30 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a 2-0 home loss to Wellsboro Wednesday, while the Rams lost to division-leading Troy, 8-2.

Last year, Athens won at home 10-0 in late April. In mid-May, Athens clinched the division title with a 7-3 win at Wyalusing.

Waverly (3-0, 3-0 IAC) at Notre Dame (5-0, 4-0), 4:30 p.m.: The Wolverines are coming off a 12-0 win over Newfield Wednesday, while the Crusaders topped Campbell-Savona, 5-3, in a non-league contest.

Coming off back-to-back no-hitters — one by junior Colby Sindoni, and the second a combined effort, Waverly’s pitching staff has not allowed a hit in 15 2/3 innings.

Last year, Waverly won the first meeting, 9-2, in the first week of April. Three weeks later, Waverly completed the sweep with a 10-3 win at Notre Dame.

Candor (0-3, 0-3) at Tioga (2-1, 2-1), 4:30 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off a 2-0 loss at Edison Wednesday, while the Indians dropped a 12-7 decision to O-M / WG.

Last year, Tioga cruised to a 24-3 rout at Candor on April 3. Three weeks later, Tioga won at home, 27-2.

NEB (2-1 overall, 2-1 NTL) at Sayre (0-3, 0-2), 4:30 p.m.:
The Lady Redskins are coming off a 7-1 loss at Williamson, while the Lady Panthers rolled over Canton, 22-6.

Last year, Sayre lost 15-0 at NEB in early April. Six weeks later, NEB won at Sayre 12-1.

Wyalusing (3-1, 3-1) at Athens (0-2, 0-2), 4:30 p.m.: The Lady Wildcats dropped a 7-1 decision at home to Wellsboro, while the Lady Rams won 12-0 over Troy, behind a no-hitter by Hailey Jayne.

Last year, Wyalusing won at Athens 10-2 in late April. In mid-May, Athens pounded out an 18-4 win at Wyalusing.

Waverly (4-0) at Notre Dame (4-0), 4:30 p.m.: The Lady Wolverines are coming off a 15-0 win over Section III foe Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, while the Lady Crusaders edged O-M, 5-4, in walk-off fashion.

Last year, Notre Dame won at Waverly, 7-2, on April 3. Three weeks later, Notre Dame remained unbeaten with a 5-1.

Newfield (0-2) at S-VE (0-2), 4:30 p.m.: The Lady Panthers dropped a 19-4 decision at Newark Valley, while the Lady Trojans lost 32-0 at Waverly.

Athens, Waverly at Molly Dry Invite, 2 p.m.:
The Lady Wildcats look to defend their team title at the Molly Dry, and Breana Gambrell is back to defend four gold-medal performances. Emily Lunger and Ariana Gambrell will look to defend two gold medals.

Others medalists returning this year are Waverly’s Melina Ortiz, Elizabeth Fritzen, Elle Nittinger, Sheridan Talada, and Stephanie Hyland, and Athens’ Rachel Hutchison.

The Lady Wolverines finished sixth in the 22-team field last year.

Last year on the boys side, Waverly finished 12th, and Athens was 17th. Returning medalists this year are Waverly’s Matt VanHouten, and Collin Wright, and Athens’ Damian Hudson, and Ethan Lane.

Waverly (0-1) at S-VE @ Catatonk Golf Course, 3:30 p.m.:
Waverly should have a full line-up today against an S-VE team which will be playing its first match of 2018.

Tioga (1-0) at Newark Valley, 3:30 p.m.: The Tigers opened the season Wednesday with a win at Waverly, and also qualified for the Section IV, Class C Championships with a 38-over par score of 223. Class C teams need to shoot 40-over, or better.

Waverly (3-1) at Trumansburg, 4:30 p.m.:
The Wolverines are coming off a 5-2 win over O-M Wednesday.
