KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — Tioga grad Brittany Vergason, a sophomore on the Keuka College softball team has hit safely in five straight games during the Wolves’ six-game win streak, and Sayre grad Kaitlynn McCarter, a freshman, registered her first collegiate hit Friday.
Vergason started her hitting streak Sunday with a triple and a single, two runs scored, and two RBI in a 9-0 win over Wells College.
On Friday, Vergason was 2-for-8 with a double, a triple, three runs scored, three RBI, and a stolen base in a doubleheader sweep of Penn College — both 9-2 wins.
During her hit streak, Vergason is hitting .375 (6 hits in 16 at-bats) with two triples, one double, six runs scored, six RBI, and two steals.
On the season, Vergason is hitting .174 (8 hits in 46 ABs) with one one double, two triples, eight runs scored, six RBI, and three stolen bases.
McCarter, who is primarily a pitcher, recorded a pinch-hit single in the second game of the twinbill against Penn College. She is 1-for-2 at the plate this season.
In the pitcher’s circle, McCarter has appeared in three games, and has a 6.00 ERA. She has logged 4 2/3 innings, with four walks and one strikeout.
Now 7-7, Keuka College returns to action Tuesday at SUNY Cobleskill.
