THE VALLEY  Sayre baseball opens the PIAA Class A playoffs with a three-hour bus ride to Newport High School to take on Greenwood Monday evening, while the New York State boys golf championship concludes.

Sayre (14-5) vs. Greenwood (9-9), 6 p.m. @ Newport H.S.:
The Redskins are coming off a 4-1 win over Millville in the District 4 championship game, while the Wildcats topped High Point in the District 3 title game.

Sayre has won three in a row, while Greenwood is riding a four-game win streak.

The winner will face the winner of the game between District 1 champ Faith Christian Academy (15-6) of Sellersville, and the Girard Academic Music Program (13-10) of Philadelphia on Thursday at a site and time to be determined.

BOYS GOLF
New York State Championships, 7:30 a.m., Robert Trent Jones Golf Course @ Cornell University, Ithaca: 
Tioga sophomore Sam Taylor wraps up his 2018 campaign this morning at Day 2 of the New York State Championships.

Taylor, a three-time state qualifier, struggled to an opening round 96 Sunday.

He tees of at 7:46 a.m. on the 10th hole.
