ATHENS ó Gannon Insurance built a 6-1 lead, and held on for a 6-5 win over Williams Ford here Monday evening in Athens Little League Majors Division baseball action.

Gannonís scored two runs in the top of the first and second innings to take a 4-0 lead, then added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning to extend its lead to 6-1.

Williams Ford scored four runs in the fifth inning to close the gap to 6-5, and put its first two batters on base on walks in the sixth inning, but Carson Rowe pitched out of the jam to preserve the win.

Evan Cooper singled twice and scored one run, and Kaden Rowe singled twice and drove in one run to lead Gannonís seven-hit attack, and Aiden Garcia singled, scored one run, and had two RBI.

Kolsen Keathley singled and scored two runs in the win, while Tyler Roe singled and knocked in a run, and Sean Clare and Riley Campbell each scored one run.

Garcia had the best turn on the mound for Gannonís. He pitched three scoreless innings to earn the win, allowing three hits while striking out six and walking three.

Josh Martin doubled and singled, scored one run, and had two RBI to lead Williams Fordís seven-hit attack, while Matthew Driesbaugh singled, scored one run, and drove in a run, and Garrett Thetga doubled and drove in two runs.

Matthias Welles singled and scored a run for Williams Ford, while Jase Babcock and Oliver Johnson each singled, and Kelley Reid drove in one run.

Thetga was tagged with the loss, allowing five runs ó one earned ó on six hits, while striking out eight and walking two in 4 1/3 innings.
