OWEGO Jack Bombard smacked a home run to led off the bottom of the first inning and the Nichols-Tioga Little League 10U All-Stars went on to post an 8-3 victory over Owego in bracket play at the Owego Little League 10U / 12U Tournament Saturday.

Bombard scored three of his team's runs on the day, also scoring following a triple and a walk.

Logan Bellis singled and scored to make it 2-0 after one inning. Gavin Kithcart and Eli Vargason both walked and scored in the second, as did Bombard after his triple, to build a 5-0 NTLL advantage.

With the help of four walks and a host of wild pitches, Owego closed the gap to 5-3 in the top of the third.

However, NTLL countered with a pair of runs in its half of the inning after Landon Williams walked and Nick Slater singled, and both scored. Josh Rought and Kithcart contributed RBI singles to the effort.

Leading 7-3, NTLL tacked on an insurance run in the fourth when Bombard walked, stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball, then coerced Owego into a rundown, which resulted in the pitcher overthrowing third to bring Bombard to the plate.

Garrett Godfrey went 3-for-3 on the day and Bombard was 2-for-2 to lead NTLL.

Godfrey and Bombard combined to no-hit Owego and strike out 14 batters.

Nichols-Tioga faces another Owego team for the championship at 1 p.m. today. If Owego wins, a second game will be played at 3:15 p.m.
