Valley Sports Report for Penn York Valley

Valley Sports Report
OWEGO Shea Bailey had a case of wild arm at the Owego Little League 10U / 12U Tournament Saturday. However, the Nichols-Tioga Little League 12U All-Stars' starting pitcher made up for it by running wild on the base paths as NTLL rallied to defeat Newark Valley 9-6 in bracket play.

Bailey reached base safely in all three trips to the plate and crossed home plate three times, including the game-winning run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Trailing 6-4, NTLL got its comeback going with a Zach Kotsubka single. After reaching second on a wild pitch, he moved to third on a Levi Bellis sacrifice bunt. Although he had to return to second for leaving early, Kotsubka would score when the next batter, Logan Bellis grounded out to the shortstop.

NTLL didn't stop there as Luke Powell singled and scored on an error off the bat of Bailey, who tallied the go-ahead run on Drew Macumber's RBI triple.

Macumber would relieve Bailey on the hill in the fifth and retired six of the final seven batters, five by strikeout, while allowing one base on balls.

Macumber earned the save while Bailey picked up the win with eight strikeouts, 11 walks and just one hit allowed.

NV's lone hit came off the bat of Jeremiah Netherton, a three-run triple to give the visitors a 6-3 lead in the top of the third. Newark Valley scored its other runs on three walks and a wild pitch.

NTLL plays Union-Endicott at 10:45 today. The winner will play again at 1 p.m.
