THE VALLEY — All four Valley football teams are home for "Football Friday," with Waverly, Athens and Tioga all celebrating Homecoming.

The Wolverines can clinch the Division III title with a win over Dryden, while Athens hosts longtime rival Towanda, and Tioga hosts non-divisional for O-M / Watkins Glen. Sayre hosts Canton.

FOOTBALL
Dryden (4-1 overall, 0-0 Div. III) at Waverly (4-1, 2-0), 7 p.m. @ Memorial Stadium: The Wolverines are coming off a 58-0 rout of Oswego, while the Purple Lions topped Clyde-Savannah, 26-6.

Waverly is outscoring its opponents 37.6 to 16.6 points per game, while Dryden is outscoring its foes 24 to 20.2.

Common opponents: None.

Last meeting: Waverly blanked Dryden, 32-0, in Week 7 of the 2016 season, and has won the last seven meeting in this series.

Towanda (2-4 overall, 0-3 NTL Large) at Athens (3-3, 1-3), 7 p.m. @ Alumni Stadium: The Wildcats are coming off a 35-28 loss to unbeaten Wellsboro, while the Black Knights outgunned Tunkhannock, 42-32.

Athens is being outscored by its opponents by an average of 24.3 to 20.8, while Towanda has been outscored 19.8 to 18.0.

Common opponents: Wellsboro thumped Towanda 30-3, and rallied past Athens, 35-28. Canton blanked Athens 34-0, and edged Towanda in the final minute, 35-31.

Last meeting: Towanda knocked off Athens, 33-25, in Week 5 of the 2017 season.

O-M / Watkins Glen (2-3) at Tioga (3-2), 7 p.m. @ Haggerty Field: The Tigers are coming off a 48-0 win over Groton, while the Seneca Indians dropped a 20-19 decision to Honeoye Falls-Lima.

Tioga is outscoring its opponents by an average of 30 to 15.2, while O-M/WG is outscoring its foes 32.6 to 23.4.

Common opponents: Tioga blanked Groton 48-0, while O-M / WG beat the Indians 56-8.

Last meeting: The programs have not played since the O-M / Watkins Glen merger. Tioga beat O-M 54-0 in Week 4 of the 2012 season.

Canton (6-0) at Sayre (3-3), 7 p.m. @ Lockhart Street Bowl: The Warriors, who have pitched consecutive shutouts, are coming off an 18-0 win over Muncy, while the Redskins thumped CMVT, 40-6.

Canton is outscoring its opponents by an average of 32.3 to 10.2, while Sayre has outscored its foes 17.0 to 13.2.

Common opponents: Canton edged Towanda 25-21 in the final minute, while Towanda blanked Sayre, 21-0. … Canton beat Montgomery 28-6, while the Red Raiders beat Sayre, 26-12. … Canton beat Wyalusing 45-20, while Sayre edged the Rams, 7-6. … Canton beat Bucktail 44-14, while Sayre blanked the Bucks 36-0.

Last meeting: Canton blanked Sayre, 33-0, in Week 8 of the 2017 season.

District 4 Championships, 9 a.m. @ Williamsport CC:
Sayre senior James Esposito and Athens senior Nate Kennedy advanced to Day 2 of the Class AA Championships. Esposito is 15 shots off the lead, and Kennedy trails by 17.

The top nine advance to the Northeast Regionals.

The Wolverines wrap up the 2018 season this afternoon with a home game at the high school field.
