THE VALLEY  Berths in the Section IV, Class C and D volleyball finals, as well as berths to the New York State cross country championships are on the line today for athletes at Waverly and Tioga.

VOLLEYBALL
Section IV Playoffs
Class C Semifinals
Waverly, Dryden, Sus. Valley at Trumansburg, 4:30 p.m.:
Top-seed Trumansburg hosts second-seed Dryden, third-seed Susquehanna Valley, and fourth-seed Waverly for Class C semi-final pool play.

The top two advance to the Class C finals Saturday at Corning-Painted Post High School at 8 p.m.

Class D Semifinals
Tioga, B-G, Oxford at Candor, 4:30 p.m.:
Top-seed Candor hosts second-seed (and defending Class D champion) Bainbridge-Guilford, third-seed (and defending Section IV, Class C champion) Tioga, and fourth-seed Oxford for Class D semi-final pool play.

The top two advance to the Class D finals Saturday at Corning-Painted Post High School at 4 p.m.

CROSS COUNTRY
Section IV Championships, @ Chenango Valley State Park:
The Waverly girls and boys seek Section IV titles today, but both will run against stiff competition.

The Lady Wolverines, ranked 9th in the state, will be challenged by Newark Valley (ranked 7th), and Lansing (ranked 10th).

Trumansburg is the team to beat in the boys race, but Watkins Glen, Waverly, and Newark Valley should provide their main competition.
