GROTON — The Tioga boys pulled out a closely-contested 3-1 win over Groton, while the Lady Tigers were swept here Monday afternoon in IAC bowling action at Corona Lanes.

Tioga 3, Groton 1

Tioga pulled out a 3-1 win over Groton in a match that saw all three games decided by 32 or less pins.

The Tigers won the first game 873-846, and the third game by a score of 816-784, wrapped around a 794-776 Indians win in the second game. Tioga won the total pinfall by a count of 2,465 to 2,424.

Junior Kolton Pond led Tioga with a 530 series, including the match’s high game of 207, while freshman Dylan Slater rolled a 527, and senior Jason Sherman shot a 469.

Senior Eric Sherman shot a 459 in the sweep, while senior A.J. Middendorf added a 449, and senior Mason Trollman tacked on a 422.

Groton’s Jesse Vyskocil shot a match-high 570, and Cameron Hamilton added a 483.

Groton 4, Tioga 0

The Lady Tigers struggled mightily in a 4-0 loss to Groton.

Junior Mackenzie Macumber led Tioga with a 324 series, and senior SueAnn Grantham added a 317.

Sophomore Destini Sweet shot a 287 for the Lady Tigers, while junior Mary Taylor added a 282, and senior Mackenzie Robinson and sophomore Millie Grantham each tacked on series of 270.

Parker Madison led Groton with a match-high 377 series.

Tioga returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Newark Valley.
