BINGHAMTON - Athens' Megan Bennett fired a one-hitter, and Corning's Jenna Case collected five RBI to lead the Valley-based Valley Storm 16U travel team to a 12-1 win over Troy here Saturday in the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex Youth Softball League.

Bennett fanned 13, including the first nine she faced, and walked one in a five-inning complete-game effort.

Elmira's Sophie Smith led off the game with a single, and Megan Bennett followed with a two-run blast to left field to give the Storm a quick 2-0 lead.

Case stroked a two-out RBI single in the second inning to score Athens' Emma Repsher, who led off the frame with a walk.

In the top of the third inning, Sophie Smith stole home to give the Storm a 4-0 lead.

After Troy scored a run in the bottom of the fourth inning, Valley Storm answered with four runs in the fifth to take an 8-1 lead.

Waverly's Morgan Lee stroked an RBI single to score the first run of the rally, then Bennett was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force home a run, and Shelby Smith slammed a two-run double to cap the rally.

The Storm scored four more runs in the top of the sixth on a grand-slam home run by Case.

Case was 3-for-3, scored two runs, and had five RBI to lead the Storm's 12-hit attack, while Elmira's Sophie Smith singled twice and scored three runs, and Athens' Harley Sullivan singled twice.

Bennett homered, scored one run, and drove in three for the Storm, while Shelby Smith doubled and drove in two runs, Waverly's Hali Jenner singled and scored two runs, Morgan Lee singled, scored one run, and drove in one run, Horseheads' Alexia Wahl-Knowlden singled, Repsher scored two runs, and Waverly's Megan Lee crossed the plate once.

The Storm improved to 2-1 with the win.
