IAC BOYS SWIMMING: UNBEATEN WOLVERINES WIN ALL 12 EVENTS IN 133-44 WIN OVER DRYDEN (2019-01-16)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY- Junior Mike Atanasoff, sophomore Collin Keefer, and freshman Kaden Wheeler were quad-winners to lead unbeaten Waverly to a 133-44 win over Dryden here Wednesday afternoon in IAC boys swimming action.
Senior Trent Wright and sophomore Ryan Bennett were both triple-winners for the Wolverines, who won all 12 events and improve to 11-0 on the season.
Atanasoff won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:16.45, and 8th-grader Oscar Williams was third in 2:46.66. He also won the 100-yard freestyle in 52.32 seconds, and Bennett was third in 59.28 seconds.
Keefer led a sweep in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:06.84, while senior Max VanDyke, who was a double-winner, was second in 2:12.15, and 7th-grader Liam Wright was third in 2:25.38.
Keefer also wont he 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:42.6, and VanDyke was second in 6:25.0.
Wheeler won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:00.56, and junior Nick Janzen was third in 1:21.02. He also won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:08.31, and Jerrell Sackett was third in 1:16.98
Atanasoff and Wheeler teamed with Bennett and Trenton Wright to win the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:56.15.
Atanasoff and Keefer teamed with Bennett and VanDyke to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:42.35.
Bennett won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.8 seconds, and Trenton Wright was third in 26.36 seconds.
Trenton Wright won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:13.53, and Max Pan finished third in 1:19.88.
Wheeler and Keefer teamed with Trenton Wright and VanDyke to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:02.6.
Junior Gage Streeter won the 1-meter diving competition with 200.1 points, and Sackett was second in 81.15 points.
Waverly hosts Lansing Thursday.
