NEW YORK STATE WRESTLING: TIOGA'S WORTHING, TAYLOR RECEIVE AT-LARGE BIDS TO DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIPS (2019-02-13)

THE VALLEY - Tioga seniors John Worthing and Steven Taylor both earned at-large bids to the New York State, Division II Wresting Championship, while Waverly junior Ethan Stotler is the first alternate in his weight class.

Worthing (35-3), a three-time Section IV champion, is first wildcard at 138 pounds after dropping a 3-0 overtime decision to BGAH sophomore Brady Oleksak in the Section IV, D-II finals.

Taylor (30-6), who finished third at 285 pounds at the Section IV, D-II meet, is the second wildcard at 285 pounds, right behind Newark Valley senior Trentyn Rupert (33-2), who was upset in the finals by O-M / Watkins Glen senior Dylan Houseknecht. Rupert, a three-time Section IV, D-I champ, finished third at States in D-I last year.

Waverly junior Ethan Stotler (36-6) is the first alternate at 145 pounds after a second-place finish at the Section IV, D-II Championships.

SVEC senior Mark Mullen (29-3) earned the third wild card at 182 pounds, while his teammate sophomore Parker Sexton (29-8) is the first alternate at 145 pounds.

Other wild cards from Section IV are: Chenango Valley's Brady Hope (40-8) at 160, and Nathan Lehr (42-8) at 138, Greene-Oxford's Noah Kennedy (32-6) at 195, Groton's Reese Lockwood (39-5) at 152, and Kyle Willard (36-5) at 113.
