MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: WAVERLY GRAD WARD POSTS SEVENTH DOUBLE-DOUBLE OF SEASON AT CORNING CC (2019-02-18)

CORNING - Waverly grad Jon Ward, a freshman on the Corning Community College men's basketball team, recorded his seventh double-double of the season here Wednesday in the  Red Barons' next-to-last game of the regular season.

On Saturday, Ward had seven points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots in a regular-season ending 76-54 win over Jefferson Community College.

On Wednesday, Ward posted a double-double with 12 points, on 5 of 7 shooting from the field, and 11 rebounds. He also had two assists in a 96-76 win over Broome Community College.

On Feb. 2, Ward had one of his best games of the season with a season-high 22 points, and 12 rebounds, which matches his season high. He also had four blocked shots and one assist in a 75-71 loss to Cayuga Community College.

Ward recorded seven double-doubles on the season.

On the season, Ward averaged 12.5 points and 8 rebounds per game - both second on the team, while shooting 55.4 percent from the field - also second on the team.

Ward led Corning with 71 blocked shots (3.2 per game), and had 22 assists and 16 steals on the season.

Corning CC ends the regular season with a 16-7 record.
