NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: FOUR WILDCATS, ONE REDSKIN EARN DIVISIONAL ALL-STAR HONORS (2019-03-24)

Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY - Athens had four players honored with all-star recognition, including a pair of first-teamers, while Sayre had one in recent voting by the NTL boys basketball coaches.

Wellsboro's Brandyn Tuttle was voted the NTL "Player of the Year," while NEB's Zak Smith was named the "Offensive Player of the Year," and North Penn-Mansfield's Dylan Meyer was honored as the "Defensive Player of the Year."

Wyalusing's Isaiah Way was voted the NTL "Sixth Man of the Year," and Wellsboro's Todd Outman and his staff is the "Coaching Staff of the Year."

LARGE SCHOOL
First Team
Aaron Lane, junior, Athens:
One of the best shooters in the league, Lane averaged 19.8 points, 2.4 steals, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. He made 94 free throws and 50 3-pointers.

Ben Gambrell, sophomore, Athens: One of the top defenders in the league, Gambrell averaged 10.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.

The remainder of the first team is: Brent Burleigh, NP-Mansfield; Seldon Rogers, Troy; Joe Grab and Andrew Brelo, Wellsboro.

Second Team
Aric Westbrook, senior, Athens:
A good defender and rebounder, Westbrook averaged 8.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. He connected on 14 3-pointers, and had 10 blocked shots.

Keegan Rude, junior, Athens: An athletic and strong presence in the low post, Rude averaged 8.5 points, 6 rebounds, 1.1 steal, and 1.1 assist. He also had a team-high 13 blocked shots.

The remainder of the second team is: Jayden Andrews and Sawyer Freeman, NP-Mansfield; Ryan Ermitage, Wyalusing; and Hunter Brown, Wellsboro.

SMALL SCHOOL
First Team

The Small School first team is: Andy Crown, NEB; Michael Smithers, Canton; Brandyn Choplosky and Duncan Zeafla, NP-Liberty; Tanner Adriance, Williamson, and Tyler Vargeson, Cowanesque Valley.

Second Team
Gage Carnrike, senior, Sayre:
A dynamic defender and unselfish player, Carnrike averaged 9.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2 steals per game. He shot 47.6 percent from the field and had 15 3-pointers.

The remainder of the second team is: Kolby Allen, Williamson; Ben Knapp, Canton; Clayton Connor, NEB; Noah Spencer, NP-Liberty; Zach Rentzel, Canton; Seth Huyler, Cowanesque Valley.
