IAC SOFTBALL: WAVERLY DUO COMBINES ON NO-HITTER IN 15-0 WIN OVER WATKINS GLEN (2019-03-29)

WATKINS GLEN "” Senior Wendi Hammond and sophomore Hali Jenner combined on a no-hitter, and senior Kari VanAllen had six RBI to lead Waverly to a 15-0 five-inning win over Watkins Glen here Friday afternoon in IAC Division 3 softball action.

Hammond retired all nine batters she faced - seven by strikeout - to earn the win. Jenner stuck out five and walked one in two innings of relief.

Waverly took control of the game with seven runs in the second inning, a rally highlighted by a three-run triple by VanAllen and a two-RBI single by senior Jordan Mente, who had two hits in the innings.

VanAllen added a two-RBI triple in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 11-0.

The Lady Wolverines pushed its lead to 15-0 with four runs in the top of the fifth in a rally that featured an RBI triple by junior Morgan Adams.

VanAllen had two triples, one run scored and six RBI, and Mente singled twice, scored one run, and drove in two runs to pace Waverly's nine-hit attack.

Jenner singled, scored two runs and drove in two runs for the Lady Wolverines, while Hammond doubled and scored three runs, Adams tripled, scored three runs, and knocked in a run, senior Sydney Meyers singled and scored a run, and junior Adrianah Clinton singled, scored one run, and drove in a run.

Watkins Glen committed six errors in the loss.

Waverly, now 2-0, plays another divisional game Monday when it hosts Dryden.
