NTL TRACK & FIELD: SAYRE COACHES HOPING STRONG WORK ETHIC WILL LEAD TO SUCCESS IN 2019 (2019-04-02)

SAYRE "” The Lady Redskins enter the 2019 track & field season with quite a bit of experience, while the Sayre boys are inexperience. Their respective coaches, however, believe they have one thing in common: a strong work ethic.

GIRLS
"I'm excited to get started," said Sayre girls coach Amy Wheeler. "We are coming into this season with a great group of girls - they are workers.

"They have been working hard with great attitudes from the first day," added Wheeler. "A number of them have been have put a great deal of time into the offseason and I'm anxious to see it pay off for them."

Returning for Sayre are: seniors Kayla Kittle, Anna Coller, Rylee Keeler, Claire Shaffer, Jennifer Shaffer, Mackenzie Wilkerson, and Katie Winge, as well as juniors Julia Boyle and Kayla Hughey, and sophomores Carrie Claypool, who is returning from a knee injury, Lucy COller, Courtney Sindoni, and Tahnee Casey-Coolbaugh.

Newcomers for 2019 are: seniors Jessica Truesdail and Shelby Kepner, junior Sarah Vandermark, and freshmen Roz Haney, Jazzlyn DeKay, Kailee Perry, and Jordan McCarthy.

On the NTL:
"The league never disappoints with some great athletes," said Wheeler. "We are exited to compete with them. I'm sure we will see great performances."

BOYS
"Our team is relatively young, but possesses great leadership from the seniors," said first-year coach Gavin Fairlie. "The team has a great work ethic and is driven to succeed.

"Each athlete is working hard to achieve their goals and improving each day," he noted. "I have no doubt this team will get back on the winning track and break some records along the way.

"We have a strong group of mid- to long distance runners, as well as, field athletes," added Fairlie. "I am looking forward to seeing what they can achieve this season."

The Redskins return senior Josh McClelland, Matt Beers, and Joe Stermer, juniors Logan Goudreau and Laterrian Stewart, and sophomores Zach Belles, Connor Young, Tavone McClenny, Logan Chapman, Robert Benjamin, Nathan Romano, and Gavin Rucker.

On the NTL:  "The NTL never disappoints in regards to producing strong track and field teams," said Fairlie. "The league has a great history of being highly competitive in this sport. I don't see this year being any different, as far as, showcasing what strong teams and athletes it has."
