TRUMANSBURG "” Sophomore Derrick Gage and senior Derrick Barto combined on a three-hitter to help Tioga to a 2-1 eight-inning win over Trumansburg here Monday afternoon in IAC Division 2 baseball action.

Gage gave up back-to-back doubles to fall behind 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning before recording an out, but did not give up another hit in 6 2/3 innings of work.

Tioga tied the game in the top of the fifth inning on a two-out double by Pierce Hendershot and an RBI single on the next pitch by junior Mason Booser.

The Tigers, who had 10 hits in the game, left two runs on base in the sixth and seventh innings, before breaking through.

Senior John Worthing led off the top of the eighth inning with a single, stole second, and moved to third on a passed ball. He scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of junior Thomas Cook.

Barto, who relieved with two outs in the seventh inning, pitched a around a one-out single, and a two-out hit batsman to preserve the win.

Gage allowed one run on two hits, while striking out eight and walking three in 6 2/3 innings.

Barto earned the win with 1 1/3 inning of scoreless relief. He struck out one and yielded one hit.

Hendershot had three hits, including two doubles, and scored one run, while Booser stroked a pair of singles, and drove in one run, and Gage singled twice to pace Tioga at the plate.

Cook singled and drove in one run, while John Worthing singled and scored one run, and Barto added a single.

Tioga, now 5-3, returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Candor.
