SPENCER - Sophomore Kindra Wessels was the driving force in the pitcher's circle and at the plate in Tioga's 12-1 win over S-VE in IAC softball action here Wednesday afternoon.

Wessels fired a one-hitter, striking out seven and walking three in a complete-game, seven-inning effort to earn the win.

She also 4-for-5 at the plate, with a double, one run scored and three RBI to pace Tioga's 16-hit attack, while freshman Julia Bellis stroked three singles, scored two runs, and drove in one run, junior Michaela Webb singled twice, scored two runs, and knocked in one run, and freshman Austyn Vance singled twice and scored two runs.

Junior Kim Tarbox singled, scored one run, and drove in one run for the Lady Tigers, while junior Emily Pipher singled and had two RBI, sophomore Olivia Ayres and junior Allyson Chapman each singled and scored one run, and junior Giovanna Rossi singled and drove in one run.

The Lady Tigers jumped on S-VE early.

Bellis led off the top of the second inning with a single, and moved to second on a single by Vance. After both runners moved up on a wild pitch, junior Shaina Franks worked a walk to load the bases.

Tarbox gave Tioga a 1-0 lead with an RBI infield single. With one out, Webb made it 2-0 with an RBI single, and Wessels capped the rally with a two-out, two-RBI single to make it 4-0.

S-VE scored its only run of the game in the home half of the inning, using an error, a single by S. Shannon Connor, and back-to-back two-out walks to Hannah Martinez and Madison Sousa.

Wessels helped her own cause in the top of the fourth with a two-out RBI double to score Chapman, who led off the inning with a single, to make it 5-1.

The Lady Tigers put the game away with six runs in the top of the sixth inning, scoring two runs on an error, and one on a wild pitch. Pipher's two-run single was the big blow in the inning, and Rossi added an RBI single.

Bellis provided the final margin with an RBI single in the top of the seventh.

Connor had S-VE's only hit, while Mckenzie Jones scored the run, and Sousa drove it in.
