THE VALLEY — Thunderstorms and heavy rains tore through the region over night, so grass playing fields may be a little worse for the wear, and there’s more rain in the forecast Thursday. Groundskeepers could be the MVP not only today, but for the entire spring at this rate.

Today’s schedule, weather permitting, is as follows:

The Wildcats are coming off a 5-1 loss at home to Northeast Bradford on Monday, while the Black Knights lost at Canton, 11-1, on April 9.

SOFTBALL
Towanda (3-3) at Athens (2-3), 4:30 p.m.:
The Wildcats are coming off an 11-1 win over NEB on Monday, while the Black Knights lost at Horseheads, 8-1.

Tioga (3-0) at Southern Cayuga (1-4), 4:30 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off a 15-2 home win over Groton Tuesday, while the Chiefs topped Moravia, 13-5, Tuesday for their first win of the season.

BOYS GOLF
Tioga (3-1) at Groton, 3:30 p.m. @ Stone Hedges Golf Course:
The Tigers are coming off a 2-stroke win over Candor, and have had four different golfers — seniors Evan Sickler, Tyler Roe, and Levi Bellis, and junior James Luther —  have a share of low-medal honors for the team this season.

GIRLS GOLF
Waverly at Willowcreek Golf Course, 4 p.m.:
The Wolverines are coming a five-team match that saw them pick up wins over Horseheads, Elmira, and Notre Dame.
