NTL TRACK & FIELD: QUIROS, SHIKANGA, HUANG PACE SAYRE AT TRI-MEET (12 PHOTOS) (2024-04-18)
Valley Sport ReportWELLSBORO — Junior Marco Quiros was a triple-winner, and junior Rose Shikanga won two events here Tuesday in an NTL track & field tri-meet.
BOYS
Wellsboro 82, Wyalusing 38, Sayre 30Quiros won all three sprint events, and senior David Huang won one event, and placed third in another.
Quiros won the 200-meter dash in 23.29 seconds, and junior Donte Rubeck was fourth in 26.08 seconds. Quiros also won the 400-meter dash in 53.39 second, and Rubeck was fourth in 1:02.76.
Quiros started the meet with a win in the 100-meter dash in 10.87 seconds.
Huang won the shot put with a heave of 37-feet, 10-inches, and freshman Hudson Malanoski was third at 36-feet, 7-inches. Huang finished third in the discus at 98-feet, 10 1/2-inches.
Freshman Glenn VanBenthuysen finished second in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:25.58. He was also second in the 3,200-meter run in 12:03.72.
Senior Hunter Kimball placed third in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:24.95, and sophomore Carter Bleiler finished third in the pole vault at 8-feet, 6-inches.
GIRLS
Wellsboro 103, Wyalusing 36, Sayre 11Shikanga earned all 11 team points for the Redskins with two wins, and a third-place finish.
Shikanga won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 17.48 seconds. She also won the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 52.31 seconds.
Shikanga finished third in the 200-meter dash in 28.36 seconds.
Aubri Husted finished fourth in the pole vault at 6-feet, 6-inches.
Sayre returns to action Friday at the Lock Haven Invite.
