TIOGA CENTER - Tioga dropped a pair of road games - at Notre Dame and Northeast Bradford - over the weekend in IAC junior varsity boys basketball action.
Notre Dame 44, Tioga 37
At Southport, Notre Dame outscored Tioga in each of the first three quarters to build an eight-point lead, then made enough free throws down the stretch to pull out a 44-37 win Friday evening.
Five different Tigers scored two points in the first quarter, but Notre Dame took a 14-10 lead after the first eight minutes.
The junior Crusaders extended their lead to 22-17 at the half, and 33-25 entering the final eight minutes.
In the fourth quarter, Bryce Bailey scored eight points to help cut into the lead, but Tioga made just 4 of 9 free throws in the stanza. Notre Dame made 4 of 7 free throws to seal the win.
Bailey led Tioga with nine points, while Casey Stoughton scored eight points, Derrick Gage added five points, and Cobe Whitmore and Gavin Godfrey added four points apiece.
Northeast Bradford 35, Tioga 19
At LeRaysville, Northeast Bradford jumped out to an early lead, and Tioga never recovered in a 35-19 loss here Saturday evening in non-league action.
Doug Williams scored seven points and Dan Seeley added six points in the first quarter as the junior Panthers built a 13-4 lead.
Bryce Bailey scored all four of Tioga's points in the second quarter, and the junior Tigers trailed 17-8 heading into the intermission.
Elijah Frey scored Tioga's only bucket in the third quarter, and NEB opened a 26-10 lead with a 9-2 spurt.
Gavin Godfrey scored four points in the fourth quarter, and Seth Franks knocked down a 3-pointer, but NEB kept pace to sew up the win.
Bailey and Godfrey led Tioga with four points apiece, and Franks and Isaac Peterson each canned 3-pointers.
Shelley led NEB with eight points and Williams added seven.
Tioga returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Southern Cayuga.
