VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: IT'S ALL-VALLEY WEEK (2019-11-30)

THE VALLEY - "All-Valley" week for the 2019 fall season begins Tusday and runs through Sunday, honoring the top athletes, newcomers, and coaches in each sport, and featuring "Crystal Ball" prognostications for the 2020 fall season.

The week wraps up Sunday with the "Super 7 Male and Female Athletes of the Fall," and  "The Final Word" on the 2019 fall season.

The schedule is as follows:

TUESDAY
All-Valley Girls Cross Country Super 7;
All-Valley Boys Cross Country Super 7.

WEDNESDAY
All-Valley Volleyball Super 7;
Crystal Ball look ahead to 2020 volleyball season;
All-Valley Girls soccer team.

THURSDAY
All-Valley Boys soccer team;
Crystal Ball look ahead to 2020 soccer seasons;

FRIDAY
Super 7 Storylines of the Fall;
All-Valley "Super 7" and All-Valley Football team;
Crystal Ball look ahead to 2020 football season.

SATURDAY
Super 7 Female Newcomers of the Fall;
Super 7 Male Newcomers of the Fall;
Super 7 Coaches of the Fall.

SUNDAY
Super 7 Female Athletes of the Fall;
Super 7 Male Athletes of the Fall.

VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: 'ALL-VALLEY WEEK,' AND 2018-19 YEAR-END AWARDS (2019-06-21)

THE VALLEY — The 2018-19 high school sports season has come to an end, and over the next nine days Valley Sports Report will put the finishing touches on it with "All-Valley" honors for the 2019 spring season, as well as our year-end awards.

All-Valley Week,” which honors the top athletes, newcomers, and coaches in each sport, as well as "Crystal Ball" prognostications for the 2019-20 spring seasons, begins Thursday and wraps up Tuesday.

Beginning Wednesday, VSR will put a bow on the entire school year with its year-end awards, culminating Friday with "The Final Word on 2018-19.”

WAVERLY — Waverly’s Scott Woodring got off to a historic start to his junior year, averaging 32.7 points and 16.9 rebounds per game through the first seven games, but a season-ending knee injury during practice derailed his season, and that of the Wolverines, who lost 12 of 13 to close out the 2018-19 campaign. ...more

THE VALLEY — Freshman Kennedy Westbrook was something of an unknown commodity entering Waverly’s preseason practice, but turned out to be a major contributor on the soccer pitch for the Lady Wolverines, and is the 2019 Valley Sports Report Girls “Newcomer of the Fall.” ...more

FROM THE PRESS BOX: CRYSTAL BALL LOOK AHEAD TO THE 2020 FOOTBALL SEASON (2019-11-29)
It was a decent season for high school football in the Valley, with Tioga winning another Section IV title, and Sayre qualifying for the District 4 playoffs in consecutive years for the first time since the inception of the Pa. state playoffs in 1988.

Despite posting a losing record (4-5), Waverly overachieved in the rugged Class B ranks of Section IV, and Athens, despite a 1-10 record, proved to be a tough out for Valley rivals Sayre and Waverly on consecutive weekends late in the season. ...more
