STAC BOYS SOCCER: WAVERLY'S RANKIN HOPING FOR IMPROVEMENT IN 2026, DESPITE YOUNG ROSTER (September 2, 2026)

WAVERLY — Waverly boys soccer coach Jon Rankin is hoping for improvement in 2026 despite a roster full of underclassmen.

LAST YEAR: 4-12. OPENER: Waverly opens play at Owego Free Academy Wednesday night.

"I think work ethic and community will be our biggest strength," said Rankin.

"My biggest concern, though, is having 15 of 19 or our player being underclassmen, including several middle schoolers.

"My expectation is we improve our record and play from last year," he added.

The Wolverines return starters Cohen Kraft, Hayden Roskow, Collin Wheeler, Trent VanDyke, James Cole and Ian Johnston.

Other returners are Sawyer Nierstedt, Aiden Malorzo, Jerrod Brown, and Ethan Reedy.

Waverly has a host of newcomers this season in Ace Johnston, Lucian Krause, Kevin Kinney, Seamus Keeley, Hayden Terwilliger, Atticus Kance, Aiden Avery, Wyatt Chadler, and Jayden Washington.
