IAC BOWLING: LADY WOLVERINES SWEEP LANSING - WAVERLY BOYS WIN 3-1 (2019-01-10)

LANSING - Senior Sarah Uhl led the Lady Wolverines to a sweep of Lansing Thursday, while the Waverly boys topped the Bobcats, 3-1, in IAC bowling action here at Helen Newman Bowling Center on the campus of Cornell University.

GIRLS
Waverly 4, Lansing 0

Uhl rolled a 551 series, and junior Mackenzie Plouse shot a 533 to lead Waverly to a sweep of Lansing and a 2,376 to 1,766 total-pinfall victory.

Eighth-grader Victoria Houseknecht had a 462 for the Lady Wolverines, while senior Sarah Wood shot a 417, 7h-grader Rachel Houseknecht added a 400, and senior Kari VanAllen tacked on a 374.

Junior Morgan Lee rolled a 480 series in reserve for Waverly.

BOYS
Waverly 3, Lansing 1

Eighth-grader Zach Vanderpool and junior Derrick Canfield once again led Waverly in a 3-1 victory over Lansing.

Waverly won the first game 861-793 and third game 814-726. In between Lansing won a 712-710 decision, but the Wolverines claimed the total-pinfall victory 2,385 to 2,231.

Vanderpool shot a 552 and Canfield rolled a 548 for the Wolverines, while sophomore Richard Steven had a 450 and sophomore Matt Mauersberg added a 421.

Eighth-grader Ashton Pritchard had a 408 for Waverly, and freshman Cody Blackwell tacked on a 395 series. Seventh-grader Carter Hayes rolled a 415 in reserve.

Waverly returns to action Tuesday at Groton.
