IAC BOYS SWIMMING: SHORT-HANDED WAVERLY SET TO DEFEND LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE SATURDAY (2019-02-08)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY - With most of their top swimmers not entered in Saturday's IAC Swimming & Diving Championships, senior Max VanDyke leads the way for the two-time defending league meet champion Waverly Wolverines as the second seed in two events.
The majority of Waverly's swimmers will be out of action Saturday due to the fact they've already participated in the maximum number of meets / tournaments allowed under NYSPHAA rules prior to Sectional competition.
VanDyke is the second seed in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:05.78, and 7th-grader Ryan Clark is the 12th seed at 2:39.17. VanDyke is also the second seed in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:04.44
Seventh-grader Liam Wright is the third seed in the 200-yard IM at 2:35.93, and sophomore Max Pan is the 11th seed at 2:56.9.
Liam Wright is the fifth seed in the 500-yard freestyle at 6:19.46, and 7th-grader Ryan Clark is the seventh seed at 7:03.87, while Pan is the fourth seed in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:18.95.
Junior Nick Janzen is the fifth seed in the 50-yard freestyle at 26.57 seconds, and 7th-grader Brandon Clark is the 14th seed at 31.46 seconds.
Junior Brandon Clark is the ninth seed at 1:14.00, and 8th-grader Simon Stevens is the 16th seed. Stevens is the 15th seed in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:54.24.
Waverly is the top seed in all three relays, but those times were established by relays that included swimmers who are not participating Saturday.
