NEW MILFORD, Pa. - Blue Ridge scored seven runs in the bottom of the second inning on its way to a 13-1 five-inning win over Sayre here Thursday afternoon in non-league softball action.

The Lady Redskins drew first blood in the top of the first inning. Junior Lexi Post hit a one-out single up the middle. After stealing second base, she scored on a two-out RBI double by junior Emily Sutryk.

Blue Ridge senior ace Danielle Goff did not allow a hit the remainder of the game. She struck out 11 and walked none in five innings to earn the win.

After taking a 7-1 lead after two innings, Blue Ridge scored three runs in the third inning, and three more in the fourth to bring the 10-run "mercy rule" into play.

Megan Sommer doubled and singled, scored two runs, and had four RBI, and Goff tripled, doubled, and singled, scored two runs, and drove in two runs to pace Blue Ridge's 15-hit attack.

Sayre, now 1-17, wraps up its 2019 campaign Saturday afternoon when it hosts NEB. Game time is 2 p.m.
