SECTION IV TRACK & FIELD: BOYS 400-METER RELAY, WALSH LEAD TIOGA'S EFFORTS AT CLASS D CHAMPIONSHIPS (12 PHOTOS) (2019-05-22)

MARATHON "” The Tioga boys' 400-meter relay earned a silver medal here Wednesday afternoon at the Section IV, Class D track & field championships, and will advance to next week's State Qualifier, while freshman Julia Walsh paced the Lady Tigers' efforts.

(Top-three finishers in each event advance to next week's Section IV State Qualifier, as well as anyone who meets the provisional standard.)

BOYS
Unatego claimed the team title with 81 points, while runner-up O-M had 66 points, and third-place Walton tallied 62 points. Tioga finished 12th in the 22-team field with 12 points.

The foursome of freshmen Emmett Wood and Chris Walsh, sophomore Evan Hubbard, and senior Alex Bloss finished second in the 400-meter relay in a time of 47.05 seconds, and will compete at next week's State Qualifier at U-E.

Junior Kobe Enberg finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 18.38 seconds, and sophomore Evan Hubbard was seventh in 19.71 seconds. Hubbard finished ninth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:08.83, and Enberg was 14th in 1:13.59.

Junior Ezra Steele was sixth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:08.73.

Freshman Matt Watson finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 37-feet, 2 3/4-inches, and Enberg was 16th in 29-feet, 11-inches. Watson finished seventh in the long jump with leap of 18-feet, 5-inches, and sophomore Jerrick Allen was 14th at 16-feet, 9-inches.

Sophomore Nate Jaye finished sixth in the pole vault at 9-feet, and sophomore Kyle Earley was eighth at 8-feet, 6-inches.

Emmett Wood finished ninth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.96 seconds

Junior Caleb Allen finished ninth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 55.62, and sophomore Jerrick Allen was 13th in 57.63. Caleb Allen also finished ninth in the high jump at 5-feet, 2-inches.

Junior Dom Wood finished 14th in the shot put with  heave of 35-feet, 9-inches, and senior Austin Lamb was 15th in 34-feet, 8-imches.

Walsh finished 15th in he 200-meter dash in a time of 25.4 seconds.

GIRLS
O-M won the team title with 86 points, while runner-up Delhi tallied 83 points, and third-place BGA had 49.5 points Tioga finished 15th in the 22-team field with 12 points.

Walsh finished fourth in the pole vault at 7-feet, 6-inches, and junior Jocelyn Bradley was sixth at 6-feet, 6-inches.

Walsh finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:13.51, and freshman Mariah Nichols was ninth in 1:16.36. Nichols finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 17.89 seconds

The foursome of Walsh, junior Mackenzie Macumber, 8th-grader Reese Howey, and freshman Kate Burrowes finished fifth in the 1,600-meter relay in a time of 4:38.32.

Macumber finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 30-feet, 7 3/4-inches, and Nichols was 14th at 28-feet, 1/4-inch.

Junior Gwen Watson was 10th in the discus with a toss of 70-feet, 6-inches.

Burrowes finished 12th in the long jump with a leap of 13-feet, 7-inches, and junior Bri Rossi was 14th in 13-feet, 5 1/4-inches. Burrowes finished 13th in the 400-meter dash in 1:09.06

Junior Tessa Holstein finished 15th in the shot put with a heave of 24-feet, 8 1/2-inches.

Senior Cameron Mushock finished 16th in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 6:00.26, and sophomore Hannah Barton was 16th in the 200-meter dash in 29.01 seconds.
