THE VALLEY "” Tioga baseball, winners of three Section IV titles in five years, hosts Cooperstown this afternoon in a Class C state quarter-final match-up, while six Waverly athletes seek to bring home hardware at Day 2 of the New York State Track & Field Championships.

Cooperstown (19-5) vs. Tioga (17-4), 11 a.m. @ NYSEG Stadium, Binghamton:
The Tigers are coming off a 3-1 win over Deposit-Hancock in the Section IV title game, while the Hawkeyes edged Oriskany, 2-1, in eight innings to win the Section III crown.

Pierce Hendershot will likely get the start for Tioga after notching a 3-0 record last week, allowing just two earned runs in 15 innings of work.

TRACK & FIELD
NYS Championships, 11 a.m. @ Middletown H.S.:
The Wolverines have six athletes competing in three events at Day 2 of the New York Track & Field Championships.

Sophomore Collin Wright will start the day in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 10 a.m.,, and junior Isaac Chandler will seek his second medal of the weekend in the finals of the 110-meter hurdles at 1:30 p.m.

Juniors Cora Smith, Sheridan Talada, and Elizabeth Fritzen, and freshman Olivia Nittinger will team in the 3,200-meter relay at 1:50 p.m.

Chandler, who finished third in the pole vault, qualified for the finals of 110 hurdles with the eighth-fastest time in Friday's preliminaries, while Wright is the 24th-seed in the steeplechase with a seed time of 9:53.71.

The relay team is the seventh seed in Division 2 with a seed time of 9:49.97.
