ATHENS — Bishop’s Hardware scored four runs in the top of the sixth, and held off a rally in the home half of the inning to pull out a wild 17-16 decision over the Athens Animal Hospital here Saturday in the championship game of the Athens Little League Minors Division baseball playoffs.
AAH led 4-0 after the first inning, and 5-2 after two innings. Both team scored five runs in the third inning, and BIshop’s Hardware trimmed the deficit to 14-12 after four innings.
Bishop’s scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 17-15 lead, then held AAH to one run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Troy Chilson was 4-for-4 with three doubles, three runs scored, and five RBI, and Joe Dickerson had three hits, including a double, three runs scored, and four RBI to pace BIshop’s 16-hit attack.
Brendan Clark and Jacob Shores each had two hits, two runs scored, and one RBI, while Shea Davidson and Kade Rowe each had two hits and two runs scored, Alex Arecesi singled and drove in one run, Brock Gorman scored two runs, and Hayden Bartlow crossed the plate once.
Nicholas Robbins rapped a pair of doubles, scored three runs, and had four RBI t lead AAH at the plate, while Theron May doubled, scored one run, and drove in two, Trent Williams singled, scored one run, and knocked in two runs, and Brycen Wood and Sth Krissler each singled, scored one run, and drove in one run
Kamdyn Wheeler singled and scored two runs for AAH, while Sam Cheresnowsky scored one run and drove in two runs, Nathan Fethers scored two runs and knocked in one run, Lucas Greninger scored two runs, and Gavin Lambert and Brian Erb each crossed the plate once.
