Newcomer of the Spring."
Wessels was a driving force in the circle for the Lady Tigers. She was 13-6 with a 1.82 ERA, recording 148 strikeouts in 119 1/3 innings. She walked 32 and allowed 93 hits. Opponents hit .193 against her this season.
At the plate, Wessels hit .508 (32 hits in 63 ABs) with 12 doubles, three triples, 20 RBI, 31 runs scored, and eight stolen bases. She waked 11 times for an on-base percentage of .587, had a slugging percentage of .794 and an OPS of 1.380.
Wessels was a major reason Tioga advanced to the Section IV, Class C semifinals.

Super 7 Newcomers of the Spring" is:
Rozyln Haney, freshman, Sayre: Haney burst on to the scene for the Lady Redskins this season, collecting points in nearly every meet in the sprint events.
At the NTL Championships, Haney won the 400-meter dash, finished second in the 200-meter dash, and was third in the 100-meter dash.
At the District 4 Championships, Haney won her first medal, finishing fifth in the 400 in a time of 1:00.79 - missing the state standard by less than one second. She finished ninth in the 100 and 11th in the 200.
Olivia Ayres, sophomore, Tioga: A strong fielder at shortstop and a very good slap-hitter, Ayres hit .441 (30 hits in 68 ABs) on the season with one double, nine RBI, 21 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases.
Julia Bellis, freshman, Tioga: A good glove at third base, Bellis hit .390 (23 hits in 59 ABs) with four doubles, 21 RBI, 15 runs scored, and seven stolen bases. She walked 12 times and had an on-base percentage of .507, with a slugging percentage of .458, and an OPS of .965.
Hailey McCaig, freshman, Sayre: A solid defender behind the plate, McCaig hit .349 (15 hits in 43 ABs) with one double, two triples, two RBI, six RBI, and seven steals.
Austyn Vance, freshman, Tioga: A strong-armed outfielder, Vance hit .339 (19 hits in 56 ABs) with three doubles, three triples, 16 RBI, 13 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases.
Olivia Bartlow, freshman, Athens: Bartlow was a consistent contributor for the Lady Wildcats all season, but peaked at the right time - the postseason.
At the NTL Championships, Bartlow won the discus, finished ninth in the 300-meter hurdles, and was 11th in the shot put. At Districts, Bartlow won her first medal, finishing fourth in the discus. She also finished 22nd in the 300-meter hurdles.
