NICHOLS — Waverly raced out to a big lead early, and cruised to a 13-6 win over Maine-Endwell Sunday in the championship game of the Nichols-Tioga Little League 8U Baseball Tournament.
Waverly scored five runs on seven hits, including a double by Jax Myers, in the top of the first inning, then scored five more runs in the third inning with Axel Murray belting an inside-the-park home run, and Maddox Presher adding a double to stretch its lead to 11-2.
Brayden Bowman singled three times and scored two runs, and Murray homered and singled, and scored two runs to pace Waverly at the plate, while Myers and Presher each doubled and singled and scored two runs.
Cooper Hugo singled twice and scored two runs in the win, while Cooper Skovira singled twice, Levi Kraft, Leland Stark, and Peyton Lawson each singled and scored one run, and Brody Lambert and Kenson Hugo each added a single.
