Tioga County Sports Report OWEGO - Nichols-Tioga (Luther) would battle U-E (Ferraro) to a 3-3 deadlock in the Owego Little League 12U Tournament pool play finale for both teams Sunday.
Both squads finished with 2-0-1 records, but the locals earned the top seed for the round based on fewer runs allowed.
N-T picked up the game's initial run after Brennan Sindoni singled with two down in the top of the first and worked his way around the bases.
U-E would tie things up on the strength of a lead-off double in the second.
The fourth inning brought more runs from both sides.
Jackson Bombard led off the inning with a double and Sindoni added a one-out walk. Both players scored to give N-T a 3-1 advantage.
Unfortunately for Nichols-Tioga, they would leave the bases loaded after James Luther and Eli Barnes walked, and Andrew Earley singled with two outs in the book.
U-E took advantage of the opportunity, scoring twice in its half of the inning following a pair of doubles.
N-T had three hits on the day with Bombard going 2-for-3 and Sindoni going 1-for-2.
U-E mustered up a half-dozen hits, but stranded three runners in scoring position over the final two innings.
Garrett Godfrey and Shea Bailey shared the pitching duties for N-T, combining for nine strikeouts.
Nichols-Tioga (2-0-1) will meet Vestal (Burdick) (1-3) Monday at 7:30 p.m. on Beauter Field (Hyde 3
NOTE: Nichols-Tioga (Sindoni) (3-0) has claimed the top seed in the 10U bracket and will face M-E (Davis) (2-1) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday on Franz Field (Hyde 4).
