ELMIRA — Waverly won a pair of games at the West Elmira 8U Tournament Thursday, rolling to a 22-10 victory over Elmira before defeating Owego, 14-9.
Waverly 22, Elmira 10
Leading 2-0 after an inning, Waverly strung together four five-run innings to cruise to the win.
Cooper Hugo had four hits and four runs; and Maddex Presher had three hits and three runs.
Avery Bowman, Brody Lambert, Levi Kraft and Leland Stark all had three hits and two runs.
Axel Murray belted a pair of doubles and scored twice; Jax Myers had two hits and two runs; and Kenson Hugo had a hit and three runs.
Brayden Bowman chipped in with a pair of hits and Cooper Skovira added a hit and a run.
Waverly 14, Owego 9
Waverly built a 10-2 cushion after 2 1/2 innings and was ahead 18-9 when the game was called in the top of the sixth due to darkness. The four runs they scored in the sixth did not count as the inning was never completed (per Little League rules).
Cooper Hugo had three hits and four runs for Waverly, and Murray had three hits and three runs. Lambert contributed two hits and three runs, and Brayden Bowman had two hits and two runs.
Avery Bowman had a hit and two runs, Myers had two hits and a run; Kraft and Kenson Hugo each had a hit and a run; Presher and Skovira had two hits apiece; and Stark scored a run.
Ben Harvey and Jeremiah Wheeler led Owego at the plate. Each of them contributed two hits and two runs.
Rocco Canfield had two hits and a run, and Evan Canfield had two hits.
Tobin Reynolds, Joram Belokur, Lincoln Miller and Colby Cordero added one hit and one run apiece, and William Pellicano chipped in with a hit.
