NTL VOLLEYBALL: GLIELMI RETURNS TO SAYRE SIDELINES, EXCITED BY NUMBERS (9 PHOTOS) (2019-08-22)

SAYRE "” Tiffany Glielmi returns to the Sayre volleyball sidelines, and is excited by the numbers she'll have at her disposal in her second stint at the helm of the Lady Redskins.

"Our numbers are amazing," she said. "I'm super-happy with the turn out.

"We have 14 for varsity, and 14 on the JV. We're going to keep everybody, no cuts."

Glielmi last coached at Athens, stepping down after the 2014 season. She believes she now has a better understanding of what she needs to do to be successful.

"I wasn't expecting to coach, but when the job came open I got excited again," she said. "I'm excited to be back, for sure.

"I think the biggest focus in the preseason for me is figuring out my new coaching style," said Glielmi. "When I coached before, I think I coached into burnout. I set really hard expectations and came down hard on the kids.

"I'm super-excited this time to get to know the girls, be more compassionate, be a better coach, and help build a program," noted Glielmi.

"I love coaching, I'm hoping this is long-term, but I have three kids and a business," she added. "We'll see how year one goes."

The start to year one hasn't been easy. With Sayre's gym currently receiving a facelift, Glielmi didn't have a gym for the first week, and has been practicing at Waverly High School this week.

"We didn't have a gym ... we did conditioning, and they all looked great in the workouts, but this is our only our third day in the gym with me seeing them hold a volleyball," noted Glielmi during practice Wednesday afternoon. "We're hoping our gym will be ready for the start of school on Monday.

"Waverly has been amazing," she added. "They let us use their gym for free. Coach (Kesha Sinsabaugh) gave us two hours a day with two courts. They were fantastic to us."

Sayre will scrimmage against Waverly and S-VE Wednesday at Athens, and will open the regular season at home Sept. 3 against Cowanesque Valley.
